Why does it matter what teachers believe?

It matters what teachers believe because they are going to focus on and teach what they think is important. In many schools there are teachers who don’t believe spiritual learning is important therefore it’s not taught; and like the speaker said, in Christian schools our mindset shouldn’t be only spiritual learning, but academic as well. If a teacher believes that because of our spiritual learning we have a responsibility to teach to a high academic standard as well, then that is what they will rise to and teach.

I matters because what teachers believe impacts the way they conduct themselves. If they believe we are all created by God and equal, then they will treat their students and students’ parents equally. If they are faithful followers of God, they will reflect God to their students. We act in accordance to what we believe.

If you are a Christian Educator, then what you believe is an integral part of why you are teaching in a Christian School. An individuals beliefs should be founded on the Biblical truths that are aligned with the Christian Ministry that is employing you to influence and guide the next generation. An educators world view and philosophy will come through in their teaching and daily interaction with the students that they have in their classrooms. Therefore, what a teacher believes most certainly does matter.
