It matters because what I believe will be taught to my students. I can not be a Christian educator if I don’t believe in Christ.

It matters what I believe about Jesus Christ because my knowledge and my views will be taught to my students. The information that I have will be the basis or foundation for my lessons.

If I am wishy washy and not with a clear vision, then the students would know and they would not reap the benefits of someone who is solid in their faith in God.

What one believes about Christ directly influences who they are and who they are becoming. When it comes to my role as a Christian educator it is important that I hold to the tenants of Christ because it can have a multitude of affects on myself and my students. If I teach my students false claims about Christ I am perpetuating a cycle that will affect the next generation. Conversely, if I am teaching the truth about Christ and the implications of those truths I am helping raise a generation who will walk in obedience to Him. Lastly, this affects my practical day to day interactions with my students. If I don’t believe in a need of a savior and that he paid the price for my sins, I will lack grace and care for my students as I engage them.

If my beliefs about Christ don’t align with what the Bible teaches about Him, then I cannot say I believe the Bible is true and inerrant. I won’t see the importance of passing along the truths of God’s Word to students nor will I make Scriptures the book-ends of my lessons. What I believe about Jesus will determine what my worldview is based on which will, in turn, color every other part of my life, including teaching.
