My Christology as an educator matters since it one of the underpinning and part of the foundation for my view of knowledge, the role of the student, the role of the teacher and how learning occurs.

What you believe about Christ determines whether you are a Christian or just someone who follows Jesus teachings. As a Christian educator, there is so much confusion in the world about Jesus. It is important that we are providing the truth for students.

As Christian educators, we have been given the responsibility to be conduits of God’s truth about His Son and His salvation message.

As a Christian educator, it is of utmost importance to know where you stand on who you believe Jesus is. Not only because the title (though originally a derogatory slander) of Christian implies that you believe He is LORD, but also because what you teach students will hinge on your philosophy in this regard. I keep in mind James 3:1 where we are admonished to teach only what is true. It is our responsibility to ensure that we have researched and come to a conclusion that is in alignment with all of Scripture before we attempt to teach it to others no matter their age. What we teach will go on trial before our LORD on the day of Judgement. If we have led people astray based on a false philosophy, we will receive a harsh judgement, if we have been on point in what we teach, having thoroughly researched and aligned what we teach with God’s Word, we will see grace and mercy surround us. What we believe about Jesus will define everything we teach our students. So, yes, it matters what we think about Him and who He is! It is the foundation of what we believe and teach.
