Why is dependence on God in prayer so important?

Dependence on God in prayer demonstrates our faith in His good purpose and will in our lives. He knows we have a tendency to be independent, self-reliant, and to go our own way. Yet, He beckons us to ask, to come boldly, in faith believing He is able to and greatly desires to do what we request. Finally, without dependence through prayer, we are unable to please a generous and loving God, the One who gives us all we need and so much more.

God wants to give us bigger gifts that we can even imagine. He knows that a mended relationship with Him, in which each person willing agrees with God about sin, accepts His forgiveness and depends upon Him throughout every step in life is His very best. God wants us to embrace this, even though we don’t understand His ways completely. And how amazing that He even helps anyone willing, to pursue His will. Romans 8:26 “In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we out to pray for, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.” and Philippians 2:13 “For God is working in you, giving you the desire and power to do what pleases Him.” The follower of Jesus is not left alone. God doesn’t play a shell game.

God wants us to depend on Him for all the world has to offer and too know we will have eternal life with Him when our worldly life ends.

When we come to the end of ourselves, acknowledge we are not capable of meeting our needs, and humbly ask for His divine help, we have become like little children in our asking. This is how God wants us dependent on Him for all things.

Because without Him we are nothing. When we go to Him in prayer, He is able to guide us in the right direction.
