Because He wants us to come to Him and know that He loves and cares for us.

It makes us realize not only our sins but our inadequacies. We cannot hope to live holy lives or to do spiritual ministry, depending on our own will-power or abilities. Prayer helps us draw on supernatural strength to live supernatural lives and do supernatural things.

When we pray to God, we must believe and not doubt because in the book of James taught us that those who doubt is like a wave in the sea, being tossed here and there by the wind. Such a person should not think that she will receive anything from God. We can come to God like little children going to our father and ask for what we need. God will give good gifts to us.

It reminds us that human abilities are limited and opens us up to his infinite power, love and creativity.

God is the mainspring and the center of it all. He is the source of all blessings, and so it follows that he is the key component.
