It is the core of Christianity as demonstrated by our Lord Jesus Christ. We have to be deliberate in mentoring our children because we do not want to lose them to the world. They are to be reminded that they are in this world but not of this world. This calls for leading them in the path of righteousness, and this only happens when there’s an intentional decision to train our children in the way of the Lord.

Discipleship is vital because it helps students recognize themselves as God’s image-bearers. It encourages them to understand the importance of ministering to one another and serving others. As Christian educators, one of our key roles is to guide students in understanding the value of helping and reaching out to others. Discipleship helps students actualize Matt 20:26-28 (But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be your slave, even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many).

Discipleship is an essential part of Christian education because it aligns with the core mission of fostering spiritual growth alongside academic excellence. Discipleship nurtures not just intellectual growth but also spiritual, emotional, and moral development. It helps students build a Christ-centered worldview, equipping them to make godly decisions and live out their faith in every aspect of life.
