Why is discipleship an essential part of Christian education?

I like that you started out by talking about how young children can learn to minister to one another, because it is in the safe environment at home, church, and school that children become comfortable in praying for and helping others. From there, when given the opportunities, they are able to see a need, then naturally pray for and practically meet the need. Hopefully, this becomes a lifestyle of being the hands and feet of Jesus.

This is where we build a deeper relationship with the students and where they can see a Christian life in action.

Discipleship is an essential part of Christian education because it allows us to have the pleasure of being the hands and feet of Jesus. He calls us to help and minister to one another.

Discipleship is entirely essential. We cannot just keep children in a greenhouse and expect them to do fine in the real world. We need to help children to know how they can be lights first. We need ongoing conversations about what this can look like in the real world and how to shine for Jesus.

Discipleship helps students to understand what it means to the be the ‘hands and feet’ of our gospel declaration. It helps to demonstrate that Christians are people of practical acts of love and not just doctrine believers.
