According to Ellen Lowrie Black, having a Christian philosophy of education is important for Christian educators because Christian educators need to have a philosophy and understanding of learning, the student, pedagogy and other aspects of teaching that should be based in the Bible and have a theological foundation.

We are called as Christians to share God’s word with the world. As a Christian, it should be obvious that I love God and take that calling to heart. If it cannot be seen through my daily life, the way I speak, act and treat others, I am failing. As a Christian educator, I should be setting that example for my students and assisting their parents in how they are teaching God’s plan.

Education is a tool to equip generations to enact the philosophical imperatives of society. The earth is the LORD's and the fullness thereof. (Psalm 24: 1). It is by Him and for Him that it has been made. (Colossians 1: 15 – 17). He has invited us to restore the world to its glorious purposes in Christ Jesus. (2 Corinthians 5: 11 – 21). We can only partake in His plan with His mind. (Romans 12: 1 – 2). We need the mind of Christ to direct set the direction for our work as educators. The purpose of education, in God's economy, is to see people come to full knowledge of, and into complete unity with, the Truth. Jesus Christ is the Truth they must come to know, not just as a fact but by lived experience in right relationship with Him.

We as educations have the opportunity to share the word of God and assist parents in training up their children so that they know the Lord. It’s important that we have a solid foundation of what we believe so that we are able to pass down the truth’s of the Lord to these children and the grow and have a solid foundation and knowledge of who Christ is through education.
