Christian educators need a philosophy of education so they know what they are trying to achieve – what their mission is.

Christian educators need to have a growing understanding of the pervasive sovereignty of God over all of life so that, in whatever they teach, students are learning that truth.

A philosophy or love of wisdom should be the guiding principles of how the teacher interacts with students on a daily basis. This philosophy provides focus for daily decisions and learning together.

It is imperative for Christian educators to have a Christian philosophy of education so that they can teach the importance of a Christian worldview. As Christian educators, we have the responsibility of teaching our students what comes from the world and what comes from Christ. As students learn and grow, they will come into contact with ideas that do not correspond to a Christian worldview, and they must be able to use their own discernment in decision making. If students have a strong Christian foundation, they will be able to handle future problems and conflicts with a Christian perspective.

It is very easy to just focus on the day to day lessons, but if we want to show we are different than we need to be sure to make it a priority. We need to develop and grow in our philosophy of Christian education so that we can bring that into our classrooms.
