As discussed in a previous lesson, we are educating students for a lifetime. They must know that everything they need in life can be found in God. Living a life of faith is not easy, but it is a fulfilling life. Knowing that God is truth and that decisions are not made based on feelings, but on the truth of His word, students can “cast their cares on the Lord” and be at peace even in hard times.

It is important because we need to always be ready to give an answer for the faith that we have, like 1 Peter 3:15. Without answers, we will fall into doubt, and we will not be able to answer our students properly.

The ability to point back to scripture to answer questions is foundational to all we believe. We always want to return to what God says about things. When we are solid in what we believe in these areas and we have the scriptures to back them up, we teach our students that God does provide the answers and He provided them many, many years ago. They have not changed, they are the same. God doesn’t change like shifting shadows (James 1:17). When we show our students that we place value in the Word, in God’s words, we show them where we find answers to out questions and where they can turn when they have their own. Granted, sometimes things aren’t detailed out specific to a situation, but when we look at the heart of the issues, the answers are truly there!

Having a solid conviction about these answers can help the educator to be more impactful when sharing his/her faith with students. It can also help us to better understand and value the role we can play assisting students value God and themselves.

It is important that we encourage students to know that they exist for a purpose, explain why they exist and to help them to know their value. When they know these things – especially their value – they are more likely to be equipped to have a more fulfilling and meaningful learning experience.
