Since we are teaching them for eternity and since we are only teaching them for a short season in their lives, it is important to instill the right ideas in them. I have heard it quoted as if they don’t learn it from a loving person and place, they will learn if from the world and from people that do not have their best interest in mind. These three concepts are essential for the generation coming up to understand. Our existence, our knowing the truth, and knowing that we are valued are essential in living this life to the best of our ability and to being glory to God. That is indeed why we are all here.

I believe that is it important to know the answers to these questions because our students are very curious. We they ask these questions; we need to know how to answer them so that we can lead them to Christ. We are influencing the next generation and we need to know the truth and be able to share it. Otherwise, people may ask someone who doesn’t know the truth. Then we have lost an opportunity to plant a seed.

If we believe in Jesus, then it is important to be able to answer how we know God exists and how the nature of the universe came to be. If wisdom is to be sought after, then knowing becomes important. It allows us to ask questions and seek answers. Where in the Bible can we find the answers to how we can experience God and that our feeling should not drive what we believe to be true at one time or another. We have to allow the Word of God to guide our thoughts into alignment with the promises of God about what we need to know and how we can know it. There is no subjective truth. Truth can be found in the Bible, from God alone. We have to be able show others that what we believe to be true doesn’t necessarily mean that it is true if it does not align with the word of God. Studying the word as it relates to post modern or contemporary issues is vital in being able to answer our own questions and that of others. Prayer and seeking guidance from trusted individuals who are versed in the Word of God can be instrumental when we need answers.

It can be very easy to get caught off guard or to respond emotionally to questions, especially those that are difficult. We need to learn the skills to respond logically, reasonably, and with listening ears, so that our responses can be effective. When we get overly emotional or upset, it often has the opposite effect on the person with whom we are talking. These are also all basic things we must have sure answers in because they form our worldview and influence the way that we teach students.

I think it is because teachers will inevitably receive more questions about what is real, our values, and how we know it is true. This makes it important to be prepared for those questions.
