Why is it important for the Christian educator to know his/her answers to the questions asked by metaphysics, epistemology, and axiology?

By knowing our answers to these important topics (all founded on scripture) we become an anchor or rock for students in this ever changing world, which will hopefully help them to place their faith in Jesus.

It is important because we are the example for students. They are always asking questions and we have to know our beliefs in order to help guide them.

Students are asking questions all the time. They are looking to us, as Christian educators for the answers. This is our opportunity to tell them about God and the Bible. To guide them in the word. To show them that they are valued in God’s eyes.

As Christian educators, students trust that we know what we are talking about. They trust we know if God is real, if the universe is real, that we understand that all that is in the Bible is FACT and that all of it is REAL. Knowing how to answer students when they ask those hard questions can further their trust and belief in you as well as their Bible. NOT knowing these answers can put doubt and question in students minds. “If a teacher doesn’t know what she believes, how is she supposed to teach me what to believe?”.

Students are curious about these things and we must be ready to respond in helpful ways. Socrates said an unexamined life is not worth living–and by extension, we can say an unexamined faith is not worth holding. Scripture says we must always be ready to provide a defense.
