Why is it important that Christian educators know and continue to study Scripture?

Knowing and studying Scripture are important because they continually strengthen our faith. It also allows us to make sure our lessons are biblically accurate and God-pleasing. We can’t teach what we don’t know.

It is important for Christian educators to know God’s Word in order for us to teach the Scripture to our students. One cannot teach that which they do not know.

It is important for Christian educators to know and continue to study Scripture because we have to lead by example. In the day-to-day of course, it is more meaningful to our students when we bring up a relevant Scripture for the situation at hand. That natural use of God’s Word will become second nature to our students if they’re exposed to it on a consistent basis. Only referring to Scripture during “Bible time” on our schedule would be doing a major disservice to our students. This goes back to the point of having it “infused” throughout our day. To do so, we need to be familiar with Scripture.

How can we filter if we don’t know the Bible?

It is important for Christian teachers to know scripture so that we can use it to be role models to our students and give examples to them on how it has helped us in our life. It’s important to continue to study scripture because each time we study it, we could find a new meaning to it or it could speak to us in a different way. Plus, as we get older, we tend to forget. We need to have scripture in our hearts as our shield of armor.
