As we get older, our memories are not as reliable. Even if we memorized Scripture from childhood, we must keep it fresh in our minds from regular study. This way we are able to share them with our students as we teach or counsel them. The Holy Spirit uses the Word as His gift for knowledge, for prophecy, for wisdom, for insight into the mind of God. He wants us to follow His paths of righteousness.

As Christian educators, we are to be growing in Scripture just as much if not more than our students. We are in continual need of the Lord’s refinement and when we revisit passages of Scripture, the Lord teaches us new things that we need at that moment. We are also an example to our students that we value of God’s Word.

Chrisitan educators must know the Word so they can present the Word. Knowing the Word also guides them as they manage their classrooms and interact with students.
Since the Word is living and active, continuing to study the Word allows the Holy Spirit to speak into their daily lives what is needed at that moment.

It’s important as an educator to be rooted in God’s word so that we can give an answer and share the Truth.

If I am a Christian, a believer in Christ, then that should be what determines all aspects of my life. If I know Christ, I have to know Him through His Word.
