If I do not know God’s word, the actual scripture, I cannot explain it to my students. Also, as I continue to study scripture, I grow in faith and I grow in knowledge.

We grow in knowing the Lord as we continue our walk with God. So, God will highlight verses that you have read before, but this time God will show you something different, something deeper.

One of the reasons to know and regularly study Scripture is that you can’t teach what you don’t know. If our desire is to provide our students with a curriculum and overall educational experience founded in God’s Word, we are going to have no idea where to even begin if we don’t know the first thing about what we are trying to build upon. We also will be ill-equipped to answer any questions students may ask or address any comments they may make about God, His Word, or just our worldview in general. Students are very observant; they will very quickly pick up on whether or not we have a knowledge of and personal passion for God and His Word which could have an effect on whether or not they choose to value Scripture as well.

Growing in God and continuing to learn about God is a life long process. There is no end date. Also, in the classroom it will help the teacher in the integration process and as they reevaluate that process from year to year will help them grow in the integration process. Lastly, their growth in Christ will only help them become a better teacher as they learn to engage their students in a gracious manner.

It’s important because it ensures that we are in regular communion with the Lord. It also supports us in different ways during different seasons of our lives. We need to continue to study Scripture so we don’t become stale in our walk with God and so that we can continue to grow spiritually. This strengthens us as educators to know God’s will and to be equipped to share our faith with students and rely on & share certain scriptures that might apply to a certain stage we are in.
