Why is it important that Christian educators know and continue to study Scripture?

It is important that Christian educators know and study Scripture for many reasons. One reason is so they can easily and readily quote it to the children they teach. If you know Scripture by heart and you understand the Bible’s teachings, you are more able to share and teach that to the students. Another reason is that we (should) expect the children we teach to study and memorize Scripture. I am intentional about not expecting my students to do or know something if I don’t already know it.

It is important for everyone not just Christian educators to continue to study Scripture. Your faith doesn’t need to become stagnant or become lukewarm or cold. Knowing and studying Scripture build and deepens your relationship with God. It stops keep your faith on fire. The deeper relationship will reflect and be imparted to your students. You will be better prepared to help guide them to Christ.
