Students in any classroom are present for a time, but learning and skill exist for the student long after their classroom experience. If conveying and teaching from a biblical worldview includes students being able to also live out their own biblical worldview, they have to be able to discern write and wrong within the ideas of others. By teaching strategies for discernment, students have a foundation with which to return and a way to ask questions about the world in which they live.

They are going to experience the world and everything that come with it. Having discernment will help them to think for themselves instead of just going along with what they’re being told.

Our students must be able to give an answer for their faith and a biblical worldview. If they don’t have answers and strategies for life’s toughest questions and trials, they will stumble and possibly walk away.

I think discernment is one of the biggest struggles for our students and where they need the most guidance. This is going to be the most beneficial for them as they grow, and I believe this will make this most impact on their lives.

It’s important because we want them to learn the skill of discernment for themselves and be able to practice it outside of the classroom. The goal is for them to become so adept at discernment, that it is second-nature to them by the time they go off to college or enter the workforce.
