The lecturer said that the reason teens were walking away from God was because they had never talked about tough issues in life. I think if we make our lessons Biblically integrated, that it will give students the foundation that they need in life.

It is an injustice to them to not teach them how to discern for themselves and to just expect them to take our word for everything. I want students to know that I am not god and I don’t have all the answers. I want to teach them to use their own discernment to distinguish what is in line with the Bible and what is not.

We need to prepare them to guard their heart with discernment. They need practical, where-the-rubber-meets-the-road methods to qualify if the information is from a biblical worldview. They need to qualify if it is good information. The opportunity we have with students on such a regular basis, we really have some time to incorporate strategies for discernment. Preparation has them thinking this through under our care while if they have questions, we can guide and help them.
