It is important because they will come. We need to prepare students so that they are able to respond in truth and love to the attacks that are inevitable.

Students need to be able to discern truth from what are acceptable beliefs of our society. By knowing what the word of God says, students can determine the difference between soul and spirit. “For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it pierces even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow. It judges the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12

We have been called to stand firm and to do that we need to be prepared for attacks on our Christian faith. There are going to be many instances in our life’s where we will be not just attacked but just asked questions in general about our Christian faith. We need to be prepared for those as they can happen when we least anticipate it. It may come in the form of just a student curious about our Christian faith and not necessarily attacking us for it but we need to be ready to answer and have the knowledge that may in turn help them come to know and have a Christian faith as well.

God tells us to always have an answer for our faith. We can easily be swayed by a good persuasive argument if you aren’t prepared to defend your faith.

It is important to be prepared for attacks on our Christian faith because God has called us to stand firm in our faith and what we believe to be true when we endure these times. He instructs us to put on the suit of armor also. It allows us to lean on Him during these times of attack also. It demonstrates an example for others to see and to potentially give others the courage to do the same.
