It is important to be prepared for attacks on our Christian faith, because they are going to happen. If you are living the life that God has called you, you will face persecution. We need to know scripture to be able to counter the persecution with truth.

Knowing that we have an enemy who’s weapon is deceit is vital because we need to expect and prepare for his attacks. We need to teach students to not believe everything they see and hear in the media and that some people unfortunately do. We must study God’s word to know the truth and seek out the answers to questions we are unsure of. We need to teach students that when we believe In Christ and His sacrifice, we become part of The Lord’s army and that He has given us the armor of God to protect and defend our faith. If we are not expecting attacks and prepare for them, we will easily be deceived and injured.

It is important because so many are deceived and Satan is sneaky. Not being prepared for the world’s undermining goals will eventually lead to acceptance of non-Biblical beliefs.

It’s important to be prepared because attacks on our Christian faith will inevitably happen. I like how 1 Peter 3:15 states: “always [be] prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect.” We should be “rooted and built up in Him”, as Colossians states, and this will allow us to stay strong when we are being persecuted and to recognize deception when it creeps up around us and/or our students.

We see the day approaching so clearly when our beliefs as Christians will no longer be tolerated. We do face persecution. Although it is not to the extent some of our brothers and sisters face it in other countries, little by little our Christian beliefs are being labeled as hateful. It is important to be prepared to stand up for what is right and our freedom to worship in this country or the day may arrive when we are no longer free to do so. It will not be easy. As scripture tells us, however, we should be ready to give a reason for the hope that we have. We want to honor the Lord by obeying him rather than man. It shouldn’t surprise us. The Lord warned us that in this world we would have trouble, but to take heart because he has overcome the world. We can march on in bold faith because Jesus goes before us!
