Why is it important to be prepared for attacks on our Christian faith?

Some times as believers we convince ourselves that if God loves us, He will not let us experience troubles. But that is simply not true. The scriptures tell us that we will have troubles, face opposition, and have those who turn away from Christ. So we need to be prepared that troubles and opposition will come so that our faith is not shaken when they do. We also need to be in God’s Word so that we can loving respond to those who attack. And even if they do not change, we do not know what the Lord is doing in their hearts and lives or where they will be in the future.

It is important to be prepared for attacks on our Christian faith for a few reasons. First, as an educator knowing what attacks are coming can help prepare you for difficult conversations with students in the classroom and integrate ways to graciously talk about our faith in context of what we are teaching. Secondly, it makes us aware of how the school may need to respond legislatively to new laws that are being put in place. Lastly, it gives us to opportunity to make sure that our biblical values are still being taught and valued in our education setting and not being twisted with current philosophical thought.

The Bible tells us to always be ready to give an answer when under attack. We are told that those attacks and questions will come and it is actually a great opportunity to minister to someone. If we don’t prepare then we will be caught by surprise and will likely respond in either anger because we don’t know or we will say something foolish because we don’t know. If we do prepare by study the Word and praying for insight and wisdom, then God will provide us with an answer when the time comes.

It is important to be prepared for attacks on your Christian faith because there will be attacks. That is why God gives us spiritual armor. The armor is based on the different spiritual disciplines. We need to teach our students how to equip themselves with the armor of God. With the armor of God, they will be prepared for an attack.
