When we give our lives to Christ, we are called on to give service. The church is Christ’s body our service helps the church to grow and reach all that they too might be saved. Our service is a living witness of Christ’s love.

The local church is a place where the believer practices his faith in community and together the local church is the body of Christ to that community. Each believer is gifted by the Holy Spirit with a spiritual gift at the time of his/her salvation and the church with all its members makes up a single body that share the love and service of Jesus to the community around them and to minister to each other within. If someone does not join themselves to the church, they are refusing to honor Christ’s commandment to gather together and will have difficulty growing in their faith.

The church connects us with other believers. Other believers help to encourage and uplift us, also to rebuke us or gently guide us. There is accountability when we are members of the church. We have the responsibility to represent Christ well in our lives but also to pour into others. 1 Corinthians 12:7 tells us we each have a spiritual gift so that we may help one another. Often times the best place to use that gift is in the confines of the church body

I concur with Gregory’s response! Couldn’t say it any better than that! 🙂

We are called to assemble as believers. The church has Christ as its head and we as believers make up the rest of the body. We are all called to use our unique talents to come together to further God’s Kingdom.
