Why is it important to become involved in a local church?

It is important so one can experience fellowship on a personal, more intimate basis. It is easier to relate and be held accountable in a local church than by the church at large. It makes giving and receiving help a practical matter because we can know each other as individuals not just as a large group.

Church was important to Jesus and we were not created to be alone. Going to church is more than attending out of obligation but to build community and grow in faith with others towards God and to serve and worship him like Jesus did.

Because the church is important to Jesus. Through the church we are able to see the work of the Holy Spirit in the individual and the group. Through the chruch we are able to serve one another and exalt the Father.

First it is important because we are told to do so, so obedience. Secondly, we need local believers to hold us accountable, pray with us, fellowship with us and grow together. The local church is also how we give God of our first fruits.

A local church serves many important functions in the life of a Christian. It gives the believer a place to assemble together for corporate praise and worship as well as hear the word of God preached and expounded upon to expand their knowledge base. They serve as prayer and accountability partners (that hold us to the standards of the faith) and as a place to fellowship with like-minded followers of Christ. It is within the local church that we grow spiritually (with their encouragement) and have an important outlet from which to share our gifts and talents as well. They serve as a sounding board for tough questions too.
