The setting of the book helps to place the individual verses and passages in time and audience. Again, understanding the context is crucial to understand what is being said.

Macro observation enables us to get ideas of what the book is about. Using the Who What How When Where Why Method after reading the book several times. Then we can know where transitions happen and what was the main theme before and after. Studying chapters, passages, and verses is easier to see in context.

To understand what environment the author was speaking in and our about. It gives the reader an “overview.” This should enable the reader to explore the intent of the author more thoroughly.

one has to understand the who what when where how why of the book to avoid misinterpretation of the scriptures

The macro-observation allows us to see the big picture before we delve into the details lest we find ourselves in a “can’t see the forest for the trees” type of situation.
