Each of his Epistles has the same theme, to not ignore the Gospel, to not ignore the existence of Christ as the Son of God, and to unite the church under this understanding.

It is important to know the particular issues Paul addresses in his Epistles. By having a clear understanding, we are able to see his relationship with each church and the problems the churches may have encountered. Also, by understanding the issues, we can use this in our own churches and own personal lives, in order, to live more fully in our Christian walk.

It helps us put Paul’s letters into context if we know why he is writing.
