It is important to support parents because we are working as a team to help raise up a child in the way they should go. By supporting parents we can work with them on any conflicts they are dealing with at home or struggles that they need us to help with at school.

Supporting parents in a Christian education is often considered important for several reasons within the context of a Christian worldview:

    1. Spiritual Foundation: Christian education aims to provide a spiritual foundation for children. Supporting parents helps ensure that the values and principles taught at school align with those reinforced at home, creating a cohesive and consistent spiritual environment.

    2. Unity of Beliefs: When parents are actively involved in their children’s Christian education, there is a greater likelihood of unity in beliefs and practices between the home and the educational institution. This consistency helps reinforce the moral and ethical teachings of Christianity.

    3. Family Engagement: Supporting parents fosters a sense of family engagement in a child’s education. This involvement can positively impact a child’s attitude towards learning and contribute to a supportive and nurturing educational environment.

    4. Holistic Development: Christian education often emphasizes holistic development, encompassing spiritual, intellectual, emotional, and physical aspects. When parents actively support this approach, it contributes to a more comprehensive and balanced educational experience for the child.

    5. Shared Values: Christian schools typically prioritize teaching values and virtues based on Christian principles. When parents actively support this educational philosophy, it reinforces shared values between the school and the family, creating a more coherent and reinforcing moral framework for the child.

    6. Community Building: Supporting parents in Christian education contributes to the development of a strong and supportive community within the school. This community can provide emotional and spiritual support to both parents and students, creating a network of individuals who share similar values and beliefs.

    7. Character Formation: Christian education often places a strong emphasis on character formation. When parents are actively involved in their child’s education, they play a crucial role in shaping and reinforcing positive character traits based on Christian virtues.

    8. Cultural Continuity: For families who prioritize a Christian worldview, supporting parents in Christian education helps maintain cultural continuity. It ensures that the Christian faith is passed down through generations, creating a sense of continuity and identity within the family.

Overall, supporting parents in a Christian education context is seen as a way to create a harmonious and reinforcing environment that aligns with the values and principles important to Christian families. It facilitates a collaborative effort between the home and the school to nurture children in both their academic and spiritual journeys

As a parent, it is hard to be a parent. Not only do you struggle with wondering if you are doing what is best for your kids, but also with social media and people around you, everyone else thinks you should be doing something else. It is easy to feel attacked rather than cared for and supported. Showing support for the difficult task we are doing as parents means everything in the world. Once they know we care about them and their children, they are more willing to listen to what we have to say whether it is advice about screen time or that their child needs to be evaluated.

We are in a partnership with parents for the students. It is important for teachers to support parents and parents to support teachers.

It is important to support parents because it is their job to , “Raise up a child in the way he should go…”, but it is our job to come along side them in support. Most parents are willing to pay prices to enroll their children at a Christian school. I have had students whose parents have had three jobs so that they may attend a Christian school. Relationship must be built with parents also.
