They are held accountable to raise their children as mandated by God. When we help parents do so, we are obeying this mandate as well.

Christian educators are not mentioned in Scripture- parents are. Parents are mandated by God to bring their children up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. As Christian Educators we are a support to parents in that divine calling to bring up a new generation of disciples.

Parents know their child’s strength and weaknesses. I want them to be able to trust me when I go to them if I am having classroom issues with their child. I want them to know I am not trying to bully their child but I want is best for them. Just as the parent wants my support in the classroom, I want their support at home. We are working together to prepare our future generation.

It is important to support parents because they know their child the best! We are there to partner with them to ensure what I am teaching at school can be worked with at home. Deuteronomy 6 is a beautiful beginning place to share with parents so that they can know what it means to share God’s truth always. Every moment is a teachable moment. We are there for the parents to help them with each situation to the best of our ability while understanding that the Lord is who will lead and guide!

It is so important to support parents. You want the parents to know that you are partnering with them and want what is best for their child. You probably have knowledge that can help the child reach their full potential and can share that with the parent. Most parents are very appreciative of the suggestions I give when their child is struggling. The more the parents feel supported, the better relationship you will have with your parents.
