Why is it important to teach Scripture to children?

God’s word ultimately leads us to salvation. However, reading the word is important for so many other reasons. It teaches us how to live in a fallen world and helps us to connect with God each and every day.

Christ referenced scripture so obviously it is important to Him. Additionally, it should be our foundation. We are help to account for the truth of God’s word and how we teach it.

Children can retain at very young ages, so this is the time to teach scripture and help them to understand and use it in their lives.

First, as Christian educators, we cannot have a philosophy of education apart from God’s Word. Also, we believe that the answers to life, the big questions, are found only in God’s Word. In helping children survive and thrive in the world, the best protection we can afford is to teach them “what God says.” We must give them a framework and a place to go when they are perplexed, hurt, and seeking answers. Through His Holy Spirit, God will bring to remembrance His word that has been placed in the heart of our students when they most need to hear the Truth.

It important to teach Scripture to children because the Word of God is the foundation to everything, and in it is the wisdom for salvation through Christ Jesus.
