I went to a Christian school. I remember the memorization of the books of the Bible and the many Bible verses. We should teach them because we are told to. We should teach them because they are profitable for doctrine, reproof, and correction. We should also be sure to teach them all!

I can be driving in my car and my patience can be running low, and God can use a verse I have tucked away about being still and abiding in Him. I remember reading about missionaries who were kidnapped in the jungle. They did not have a Bible with them, so they would quote or write down verses they had memorized to keep them focused on their survival.
