Why is it important to teach Scripture to children?

Simply put, teaching Scripture to children allows them the opportunity to learn and embrace God’s word at an early age. Children are more likely to understand their need for a Savior, too. They see the disobedience in their daily lives. It is simple and understandable to need a helper. Introducing Jesus and the truth of God’s Word at an early age helps them to connect their need for correction with a loving Savior who will willingly and sacrificially provide that correction (salvation). From a research perspective, most people who accept Christ (or at least profess to do so) do so at a younger age. Thus, it is critical to present, teach, model, and live as much Scriptural truth as possible from birth and through the early ages of childhood.

The word of God is like a seed. The more we share it, the more we plant it in children’s hearts. It may not seem like much now, but in due time, it will blossom and bear fruit.

To make them to grow in the fear of God, which is the beginning of wisdom. Also to make them wise in salvation through faith in Christ. To make them grow in love and truth.

It’s important to teach children scripture so they know where to seek truth from. God asks us to teach the children of the world. The scripture is truth, and it’s ever-present. Children can learn at a young age to know the Word and they can come back to it for questions they may have.

It’s important to teach children Scripture so they can have something to turn to when they are struggling. It’s a reminder to their heart and their head that they are loved and not alone.
