Why is it impossible to do this in your own strength? How has Christ helped you in following Him?

Complete reliance on God is the cornerstone to obedience and to live a life like Christ. The simple commandments to love God with all my heart, soul, mind and strength and to love people is impossible in my own strength. These things do not come naturally and so we need a supernatural God!
One thing that I believe God led me to was to do a Discipleship Training School and School of Biblical Foundations at Youth With A Mission (YWAM) which radically transformed my walk with Christ.

I would fail miserably. Christ should be our foundation and desire. We should focus on him and fix our eyes on him (Hebrews 12:1-2).

Christ has helped me through His Holy Spirit. Without Christ I can do nothing.

“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places (Ephesians 6:12)”. So, we need supernatural strength to combat our true enemy. “It is in our weakness that He is made strong (2 Corinthians 12:9)”. We were not created to do anything in our own strength. We were designed to need God and to have to rely on His strength at all times. Christ has been my strong and firm foundation. He has been a light to my path even in my darkest times.

As Christians it is impossible to do things with our own strength – we are not meant to walk this journey alone. Christ is meant to be at the center of our lives, He lives in us and through us. Christ has revealed His hand in my life many times, when I have submitted my will to His leading and direction. Reading scripture and taking encouragement from God’s word has strengthened my faith.
