Why is it impossible to do this in your own strength? How has Christ helped you in following Him?

My own understanding is limited and fails at times. I need Christ’s help for wisdom and truth.

Our own strength is very weak and sinful. But we have Christ’s promise to never leave or forsake us. The LORD is my helper. (Hebrews 13: 5 – 6). When the world tempts us, Christ can give us strength the resist the temptations. Scripture memory is a great tool because specific verses come to memory in times of need.

Christ helps me to have strength to follow Him and do things according to His will. I can’t do things His way or have the right perspective as Christ without His strength. I’m weak and the world around me is confusing, through the strength Christ gives me I can do all things with a clear heart and mind.

Because we live in a fallen world full of distractions and things trying to pull us away from the way. He has helped me to do what is impossible in my own strength by showing me in His word, encouraging me through fellow believers and by helping me through or delivering me from some bad circumstances.

Christ promised that after his ascension, He would send the Holy Spirit to dwell within the believer. Christ knew that the fact of sin in the human nature would prevent a person from being able to “walk as He walked.” Our sinful nature is one of selfishness and conformity to the world. It is only by walking in the Spirit that a Christian can overcome sinful tendencies and obey Christ.
