Lamentations is a record of Jeremiah’s lament over the destruction of Jerusalem and the disobedience of God’s people. If we consider the state of the world today, we cannot help but lament.

Jeremiah laments over the people’s disobedience and the destruction of Jerusalem. This is a realistic view of life because many people today are lamenting the destruction of our world due to people’s disobedience

To lament is to grieve or mourn. Jerimiah was mourning the loss of his homeland given to him and his people by God. His city was in ruins and his people were killed and taken into captivity. At one time or another, we all will mourn for things that we once had but are now gone. We also grieve over situations that we now find ourselves in.

Because it records the laments of Jeremiah over the people’s situation.

The author of that book was expressing grief and sorrow/mourning because of the people’s decisions. We today can “lament” over people’s decisions and even our own.
