Lamentations is the tragic consequences of disobedience and defiance. This was how the title came about. The reflection of the broken heart not only the prophet Jeremiah but God Himself too. Whenever we are indifferent towards God, it not only hurts ourselves but the Lord Himself too. That was God took the initiative to redeem and deliver His people. That initiative cost God His begotten Son.

Jeremiah was known as the weeping project. He deeper because the children of Israel had fallen from the ways of God.

The book of Lamentations given that title because Jeremiah is lamenting over Israel’s disobedience to God and the destruction of Jerusalem. This expresses a realistic view of life because there is disobedience in our world and people continually turn away from God. It is important that we continue to turn to God and focus on his grace and mercy.

It was Jeremiah’s lament over his people’s disobedience and the consequences that resulted from that disobedience. God’s love for us does not depend on our decisions, but our decisions do have consequences.

Lamentations was given its title because it tells of Jeremiah’s lament or sorrow over Israel’s destruction as a result of their disobedience. This represents a realistic view of life because Christians still sorrow over the mistakes and consequences of sin and turning away from God.
