The prophet Jeremiah is lamenting the state of his people and how far away from Godliness they have moved. It is a sad period.

Jeremiah was lamenting the loss of the kingdom of Israel too their idolatrous ways. It is probably very symbolic of how most of us feel about the wild idolatry of our nation.

Just as the writer Jeremiah was lamenting or grieving over the outcome of Judah’s rebellion, it paints a graphic picture of the outcome and how the whole foundation of God’s peoples lives were destroyed. It shows us what our lives are like when we reap the outcome of our rebellion.
