Because it’s a “part one” or the prequel. If you don’t know how you got to the new testament it’s hard to fully understand.

because the Old Testament is the foundation of the New Testament.

We would lack the proper foundation created by understanding the beginning of mankind, the fall, the various struggles and challenges that led to great individual leadership and connection with God, and most importantly all of the prophesy of our coming Savior.

Knowing God’s Story is so important. Jesus as the Messiah was a long time coming, and most of his conversations/arguments were related to leaders who tried to cram God into religion. The miracle of the Bible itself, and the Savior predicted is so impressive.

Simply put without the knowledge of the old testament we cannot clearly see what Jesus’s purpose was. It is the Old Testament that helps reveal the New Testament. when we make statements like detach ourselves from the old testament is Heynis, because how do you understand the New Testament without having a firm foundation in the old? Jesus fulfills, many prophecies, and different old testament books. It also gives us an indication of Jesus, his bloodline so. So the old testament is the key to understanding and completing the New Testament.
