Knowledge of the OT is a necessary background to understand the NT.

We are missing out on so many incredible stories of God and his provision, power, and promise without proper knowledge of the Old Testament.

Without a good knowledge of the old testament, there will be shallow understanding of the New Testament.

Not understanding the historical context and the prophesies of the Old Testament puts one’s comprehension of the New Testament on rocky ground.

The Old Testament is foundation for the New Testament, especially because the coming of Jesus Christ to atone for our sins and His coming again to restore the whole earth are already hinted at or predicted in the Bible. In fact, the Old Testament is promise and expectation; the New Testament is fulfillment and completion. Therefore our understanding of the New Testament will be weakened, even distorted, if we do not also read the Old Testament which lays its foundation.
