Why would a lack of knowledge of the Old Testament weaken our understanding of the New Testament?

In order to understand the New Testament, we must have a deeper understanding of the old. It would be like taking an Algebra 1 course without any understanding of basic Algebra concepts taught in Pre-Algebra

The New Testament is half of the understanding of the Bible . The full understanding comes from the Old Testament.

The Old Testament provides a foundation.

You must understand that humanity has fallen from God’s glorious standard and needed saved in order to grasp the concept that Jesus is our savior.

The New Testament cannot be fully understood or appreciated unless the Old Testament is understood; without the New, the Old is incomplete.
The Old Testament lays the groundwork for truth.
