Why would a lack of knowledge of the Old Testament weaken our understanding of the New Testament?

In the old testament we receive the foundation of why God made man, the purpose of man and how to achieve a good life. The Old Testament gives you a foundation on how it all began and how it leads up to the New Testament.

The NT reveals what the OT conceals. The OT provides the foundation for the whole Bible.

Because a lot of what’s in the N.T has to do with the O.T. Paul mentions a lot of what happened the O.T especially some of the laws and w/out an understanding of Paul is saying we would be lost in the sense of not understanding him.

Not learning about the Old Testament leaves gap in the full stories that are presented in the Bible.
