Without the OT, we would not be able to capture a full image of God and His pursuit of us. We would not understand how He truly wants a relationship with us and will do whatever it takes, which includes sending His Son to redeem us.

It is the foundation of the New Testament. It is the beginning of the story. In fact, without the Old Testament, the New Testament does not make sense.

The Old Testament is the foundation of the Christian faith and provides one half of the story. It shows us who God is and how we relate to him. It also shows Christ. Knowledge of the Old Testament allows us to fully understand the New Testament.

Without some understanding of the Old Testament the knowledge of the New testament is somewhat limited, as to the full knowledge of God’s plan for mankind.

The Old Testament provides information on the nature of God and the beginnings of life. If we don’t study the Old Testament, we are lacking foundational knowledge in how the New Testament “came to be” as well as God’s and humanity’s role in each.
