Much of the New Testament quotes the Old Testament – folks in it, things God said or did, and prophecies about Jesus coming.

Without the Old Testament there is no foundational understanding of who God is or why the New Testament would even matter.

The Old Testament is the foundation of the whole Bible it shows the Great Love that God has for mankind ,is the beginning of knowledge . It also shows to what great lengths that God is willing to go through to have a relationship with mankind that’s the basics of what the New Testament is about and the need for a savior and the cost that Christ payed for it. With out the foundation the New Testament wouldn’t make since there would be no basics for the teachings of Christ, for His healing power, His compassion, His love for us and the patience that He has for us.We can agree that God has a great amount of patience with us because we are quick to turn back into sin and we’re slow to learn the way God wants us to be , to think, to behave and to love with unconditional Love and to have patience with each other as God has for us.

The Old Testament is the foundation of the entire Bible. It sets the stage for understanding who Jesus is and why he came to save us. Without the Old Testament we would not understand the New Testament and its teachings.

“Without the grasp of the Old Testament, the New Testament cannot be fully understood or appreciated; without the New, the Old is left incomplete. The Old Testament establishes the foundation of truth, the New Testament then builds the superstructure.”
I love what Erich Sauer stated, “The Old Testament is promise and expectation, the New is fulfillment and completion. The Old is the marshaling of the hosts to the battle of God, the New is the triumph of the crucified One. The Old is the dawn of morning, the New is the rising sun and the light of eternal day.”
Wow! I think that says it all.
