Jesus told us that He and the Father are one. If we only study the New Testament, we miss great truths about the character of God and the way God has orchestrated His plan to redeem mankind.

We must know why we needed a savior to save us from our sins, and its important to know what sin is. Without the Old Testament we don’t know that we are looking for Christ.

A lack of knowledge about the Old Testament would weaken our understanding because we would not fully understand God.

It will be difficult to fully understand the New Testament without grasping the Old Testament. Without knowing the Old Testament in the foundation it provides in the bible, the New Testament which is to be built upon it will have nothing to hold it up. We will not understand Christ and His purpose for entering into the world. The Old Testament predicts the coming of Christ, His sacrifice for our sins.

The OT provides a foundation for us that the NT builds upon.
