Without the Old Testament, there would be no New Testament. During His ministry on earth, our Lord Jesus quoted many Scripture verses from the Old Testament. So did the Apostles. Because of this, the Old Testament is vital for the understanding of the New.

Without the revelation of God’s holiness and our sinfulness and the sacrificial laws God gave the Israelites in the Old Testament the sacrificial death of Jesus in the New Testament would not make sense.

Because of lack of the foundation to build knowledge upon; without knowledge of the beginning contained in the old, it’s like coming into a movie towards the end and not knowing what led up to the outcome.

We are missing a huge part of the story and not to mention all the build up to the coming messiah.
