Why would a lack of knowledge of the Old Testament weaken our understanding of the New Testament?

You don’t start a novel in the middle, so too, you don’t start the history of the Creation, and it’s beginnings in the dark ages…knowledge.

If you read only the New Testament it would be like not reading part 1 of 2 parts. The Old Testament prophesies about the events coming in the New Testament. So when you read the New Testament it all comes together.

Without a grasp of the Old Testament, the New Testament cannot be fully understood or appreciated. It establishes the foundation of truth that the New Testament builds on. We cannot fully know about Christ and His purpose for coming into our world without studying the Old Testament.

Without the OT we wouldn’t know the history that helps build our view of God

The Old Testament provides the foundation to the New Testament. Lack of knowledge of the Old Testament would hinder our growth in understanding. You can’t fully understand something without knowing it’s origins or history first.
