A lack of knowledge of the Old Testament would weaken our understanding of the New Testament because the Old Testament lays the foundation that the New Testament rests on. Type is followed by anti-type. Prophesy in the Old is fulfilled in the New.

The Old Testament lays the foundation for the New Testament. It explains the history of mankind and creation. It also explains human behavior the need for the coming of Jesus.

One of the main reasons for me is that all through the Old Testament prophecies are made and in the New Testament they are fulfilled. Understanding of both are needed for the story to be complete.

The lack of knowledge of the Old Testment limits our understand of Jesus and limits our knowledge of history.d

The Old Testament is the foundation of the Bible, and without it, our understanding of the New Testament would be weakened. We wouldn’t see God’s earlier relationships with people and the prophecies of Jesus Christ coming to save us.
