It would mean we are without all of the pointers to what we see in NT. I would miss his answered prophecies and evidence of how perfect He is in all aspects!

The New Testament uses a lot from the Old Testament. It would be harder to understand the New, without it. Knowledge of the New Testament would be incomplete without it, and understanding the overall picture of the Bible would be impossible.

Without understanding the foundation and beginnings of a story, we cannot understand the full implications of the fulfillment and completion of that story. It’s imperative that we study the OT so that we can grasp the fullness of who God is and what He accomplished through His Son. We will never understand the full beauty of the resurrection of Jesus in the NT and will maintain a weakened faith without digging deep into our studies of the OT.

Because it describes God’s character, as well as, sets a standard for us to live by. If we don’t know the standard, then we don’t realize that we fall short of the standard. Without that knowledge we wouldn’t full appreciate our need for a savior.

There is so much of the Old Testament written into the New Testament that one wouldn’t understand how it relates as a whole. The Old Testament is the Foundation of Faith and truly helps us know where we come from and who we are. The Old Testaments tells us about the basic truths, judgement, and coming Kingdom of peace. The New Testament is fulfillment and completion of the promise and expectation given in the Old Testament.
