Without the foundation of knowing who God is and how sin entered the world, the need for a savior would have no meaning.

The Old Testament is the foundation. Without properly understanding foundation our overall understanding of Christianity will not be complete.

Because we would not understand why certain things were done, eg sacrifices, and the various religious observations. We would not understand why Christ came, why He died on the Cross. We would not understand why the Jews were God’s chosen people. We would not understand why we no longer need to follow the law only, but that Christ came to fulfill the law.

The OT brings the foundation of the NT to us. It explains what happened previously so we can understand what the NT fulfilled.

Because the Old Testament is the foundation into the New Testament.
