It’s almost like not having the whole story. Once you do have the whole story, it can all be put together for a better understanding. We can better comprehend what God wants for our lives.

We would not understand our need for a Savior and the coming of Jesus Christ if we did not understand the origins of man, our sin and separation from God, and God’s plan to one day redeem the world through his one and only Son. All of the Old Testament points to the New Testament.

We need to know the history of how the world started. How God is teaching us how to be through his examples. The God of the Old Testament is the same God in the New Testament. Once we know his character it will be easy to understand the New Testament.

It would only be half of the story. It would be the half of the story that the great part of the story was built upon. Like a sequel, the New Testament is great for our testimony but does not give credit to all of the things that led up to the miracles we see in it. The connectedness between the Old and New can be best described as God breathed.

Without the Old Testament, we would not understand or appreciate the New Testament as much. We need to know the history and significance of the foundation in which the Bible was written, so that we can have a faith in Christ.
