Akhenaten’s Oaths
We have looked at Hammurabi’s Law Code as background for the commandments in the Torah. Let’s take a visit to Amarna, Egypt where laws similar to those in Exodus and Deuteronomy are etched into the walls of the city gates. This will help us understand laws as pledges of loyalty to the divine King.
