In His prophetic role Jesus pronounced judgment and instructed His followers in holy living. He also prophesied, and His predictions regarding His own death reinforced his authority as a prophet. They were also prophecies of judgment because His Passion would be the ultimate judgment for the world’s sin. In Mark 13 we find a series of prophetic statements Jesus makes about His future. Those prophecies are referenced again in the events that follow in Mark 14–15.
